Some may be asking what exactly is a Poker Run:
For starters, think of it as a good excuse to ride your motorcycle.
In the classic game of poker, each player is dealt five cards. The person with the best hand wins. Couple this with a nice motorcycle ride and you’ve got yourself a genuine poker run.
The event begins when you check in and receive a score sheet and route map to the first check point. Typically there are five checkpoints along the route and you will draw a card and get a map to the next checkpoint at each one. You draw a card, it will then be noted on your score sheet and you will ride on to the next checkpoint. And like a game of poker, the person with the best hand at the end will be deemed the winner. With our poker run the first checkpoint is the starting point and the last check point is back at the starting point.
Who participates in poker runs? Anyone who wants to have a good time with friends while helping a good cause. Though many Poker Runs are restricted to motorcycles any street legal vehicle is welcome to participate. Riders of all types of vehicles and riding styles ranging from cruisers to vintage iron, sport bikes to Gold Wing tour bikes to mom’s old station wagon. Two, three, four or more wheels everyone is welcome.
Besides having a chance to win some prizes, another bonus to a poker run is that you may ride down a few roads you’ve never been on and enjoy some new scenery along the way. Traveling some great back country roads past houses, farms and fields or past tall mountains, swift rivers you never know where each run will take you. Each year the route is unique.
A Special Thanks to our Sponsors – without them there would be no prizes!!!
