In just one week the Spanaway Lions will be hosting our Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Special Needs Kids. This weekend Lion McAnnie and others took time during the work party at the Prairie House to stuff goodie bags for each of our Easter Egg Hunt participants.
Our Annual Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday April 4th at 10am in the yard behind the Prairie House Museum located at 924 176th St E in Spanaway. This is a special event for those kids that need a more level playing field.. The Prairie House Museum provides a flat and well mowed area that is easily accessible to kids of all abilities. The area, while not perfect, is wheelchair and walker friendly in the tightly mowed area closest to the starting line. Areas of slightly higher grass farther afield provide a bit more cover for the eggs. The hunt is primarily geared towards kids that can’t compete with rough and tumble of the standard Easter Egg hunts. The hunt is open to special needs kids and their siblings up to age 12. The hunt begins at 10 am. Everyone needs check in and pick up the goodie bag at the registration table before the hunt begins. The Easter Bunny’s helper will be there taking pictures and giving out treats as well. There will be coffee and donuts for the grown ups as well.
And to make sure the grass was just right for everyone Lion McAnnie got out the big mower to take it for a spin.
The Prairie House Museum is located next to the Fir Lane Memorial Park. To get to the museum enter through Fir Lanes main driveway into the parking lot. There is a drive to the right that leads back to the museum. Park in front of the house and come around back to the Lions trailer. The egg hunt is in the large grassy area behind the house.
